Beolab LCS 9000: The Pioneer Active Loudspeaker for Link-Room Setups

The Beolab LCS 9000 (Local Control System) stands as the first active loudspeaker in Bang & Olufsen’s range specifically designed for multi-room audio setups. With its integrated power amplifier, the system allows users to control the volume independently of the main system. Moreover, it combines the functions of an MCL 2 P amplifier, an IR transceiver, and a pair of small speakers (such as the Beovox CX 50) into one compact unit.

Simplified Setup with Integrated Amplifier, Transceiver, and Speakers

By integrating all these components into one housing, the LCS 9000 simplifies the installation process. As a result, you experience reduced cable clutter, making setup and maintenance easier. The amplifier employs an electronic crossover, splitting the amplification for treble and bass. In addition, the speakers are optimized to deliver a solid stereo image from multiple listening positions. Although this solution may not satisfy audiophile standards, it works perfectly for link-room audio setups.

Seamless Integration with MCL Connection and System Compatibility

The LCS 9000 connects via MCL, using a cable with 3-pin loudspeaker plugs. However, your music system needs to have loudspeaker outputs. Consequently, if you use a Beocenter 2500 or Beocenter 2300, you will still need an MCL 2P amplifier to complete the setup.

The Evolution from Beolab LCS 9000 to BeoLab 3500

Ultimately, Bang & Olufsen replaced the Beolab LCS with the BeoLab 3500, offering improved features and better performance, making it the ideal choice for multi-room audio systems.
