Sustainable Bang & Olufsen Repair & Reused Parts | Kose Trading

Sustainable Bang & Olufsen Repair

99% of the Bang & Olufsen parts we supply are reused, and all are genuine OEM components. Instead of scrapping an entire speaker because a single circuit board has failed, we repair or rebuild the board and return the product to service—often for another twenty years.

Our commitment

Repair is the most sustainable thing we can sell

Sustainability sits at the centre of how Kose Trading operates, not alongside it. Every part we recover and rebuild is a part that never has to be manufactured, shipped or mined for raw material a second time.

Less waste through reuse

Rather than producing new components, we recover high-quality originals and rebuild them. Electronics that would have gone to landfill stay in circulation, and the circular economy gets one more working part.

Lower CO₂ emissions

Manufacturing a new board consumes far more energy and raw material than rebuilding an existing one. Choosing a repair over a replacement cuts the emissions attached to that product to a fraction.

A shorter supply chain

RReuse reduces the carbon footprint across the entire supply chain—fewer factory orders, fewer long-distance shipments, and less packaging. The greenest component is the one already in the workshop.

The circular loop

What happens to a returned board

Nothing usable is thrown away. A failed Bang & Olufsen board that arrives at the workshop becomes the next customer’s replacement.

  1. 01

    Recovered

A defective board comes in—from an exchange order, a service job, or a product that would otherwise have been scrapped.

  2. 02

    Rebuilt

We work at component level: capacitors, power sections and the known weak points of that specific board are renewed.

  3. 03

    Tested

Every rebuilt unit is bench-tested in our service department and restored to full original functionality before it is approved.

  4. 04

    Back in service

It is shipped in reused packaging as a fully functional part for another customer’s Beolab or Beosound—instead of ending up as electronic waste.

Quality control

Sustainable never means second-rate

A reused part only counts as sustainable if it lasts. Three things make sure it does.

Testing

Rigorous testing before anything ships

We do not compromise on quality. Our technicians inspect and restore each product in the service department, then test it as a whole before it is released. Whether it is a single board replacement, a performance restoration or a full service of a complete product, everything is verified as working first.

The result is that customers get the same performance from a rebuilt Bang & Olufsen product as they would from a new one — which is exactly why repair is a real alternative to replacement rather than a compromise.

OEM parts

All spare parts are OEM originals

Every spare part we supply is a genuine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) component. Each part was manufactured to the original specifications, ensuring the correct fit and performance intended by Bang & Olufsen.

That matters for more than sound. Original parts protect the long-term value of a B&O product, and they keep a vintage speaker genuine rather than turning it into a hybrid of third-party substitutes. You can see the current range in our Bang & Olufsen spare parts shop.

Packaging

75% of our shipping material is reused

Repair is only half of the equation—packaging is the other half. We reuse shipping materials whenever they continue to meet legal requirements and safety standards, keeping three-quarters of our packaging out of the waste stream.

It also keeps shipping costs down, which makes sustainable repair more affordable for customers worldwide. Your parcel arrives just as protected; it simply is not wrapped in something brand new to get there.

Against the throwaway culture

Repairing, not discarding

Most consumer electronics are built to be replaced. Bang & Olufsen products are different—they were engineered to last for decades, and many of those written off today are only one component away from working perfectly again.

That is the whole argument for vintage B&O repair. A Beolab from the nineties with a failed power supply is not at the end of its life; it is a working speaker with one dead board. We supply the part, or we do the work, and it goes back into a living room instead of a container.

  • Component-level repair rather than whole-unit replacement
  • Spare parts for models the manufacturer no longer supports
  • Substantially cheaper than buying the equivalent product new
  • Guides and manuals so you can do the work yourself if you prefer

Why it adds up

Small workshop, measurable impact

Reuse prevents electronic waste at the source. Every rebuilt board is one unit of e-waste that never reaches a landfill and one new board that never has to be produced and electronics manufacturing is where the overwhelming majority of a product’s lifetime emissions are created.

Scaled across thousands of parts and shipments, that becomes a genuine reduction rather than a marketing line. We would rather show the numbers than talk about intentions: 99% of parts reused, 75% of packaging reused, 100% OEM.

Repairing what already exists is not a compromise on quality. Done properly, it is the highest-value thing you can do with a well-made product.

Good to know

Questions about reused parts and repairs

Are reused Bang & Olufsen parts as reliable as new ones?

Yes. Every part is rebuilt at component level and then inspected and tested in our service department before it is approved for sale. Known weak points for that specific board — typically capacitors and power sectionsare renewed as part of the rebuild, so in several respects a serviced board is in better condition than an original that has been running untouched for twenty years.

Are your spare parts original Bang & Olufsen parts?

All our spare parts are OEM, made to the exact specification of the original manufacturer. That guarantees correct fit and performance, and it means your product keeps its original character and value after the repair rather than becoming a mix of third-party substitutes.

How much of what you supply is actually reused?

99% of the parts we supply for Bang & Olufsen products are reused rather than newly manufactured, and 75% of our shipping material is reused as well. The remaining share covers cases where no serviceable original exists.

Why is repairing better for the environment than replacing?

Most of a product’s environmental cost is incurred before it is ever switched on in raw material extraction, manufacturing and transport. Repairing keeps that investment in use instead of writing it off, avoids the emissions of producing a new unit, and keeps the old one out of the waste stream. Buying a new speaker to replace a working cabinet with one failed board is the least efficient option available.

Can old and discontinued B&O models still be repaired?

In most cases, yes—that is at the core of what we do. Vintage Beolab, Beosound, Beogram, Beomaster, and Beocenter models are precisely the products for which repair makes the most sense, as they were built to a standard that makes restoration worthwhile. Send us the model number and the part number printed on the board, and we will let you know what is possible.

Do you send parts in new packaging?

Not if we can avoid it. We reuse shipping materials whenever they continue to meet applicable legal and safety requirements. Your parcel is packed securely to protect its contents—we simply do not use new packaging materials unless they are necessary.

Can I do the repair myself?

Many customers do. We sell the spare parts directly, publish Bang & Olufsen service manuals and record step-by-step repair guides on YouTube. If you would rather not open the cabinet yourself, our Copenhagen service centre handles the whole job.
