The Beocenter 1500 is a unique combination of an FM/AM tuner, hi-fi stereo amplifier, and cassette recorder. Its specifications, therefore, stand out in its price range. In the AM section, which covers long and medium waves, Bang & Olufsen emphasizes excellent station separation. Meanwhile, the FM section offers outstanding channel separation and stereo reception. Consequently, the amplifier’s performance exceeds average hi-fi standards.
Moreover, the built-in cassette recorder integrates seamlessly with the unit. It features a dedicated control panel, allowing users to switch easily between normal and chrome tapes. Additionally, recording levels are monitored with an illuminated indicator—red for overload and green for optimal levels. Notably, the super permalloy tape heads provide superior performance and a longer lifespan compared to standard heads.
Furthermore, the Beocenter 1500 includes versatile connections for a record player, two sets of stereo speakers, headphones, and an additional tape deck.
At the time, both the Beocenter 1500 and the Beocenter 1600 were among the most compact audio systems on the market. Despite their size, they can fill large rooms with rich sound. In addition, the Beocenter 1500 features solid aluminum push buttons, while the Beocenter 1600 has a robust anodized aluminum front panel. This expensive process enhances durability and resistance to scratches.
