Beosound 9000 MK 3
The Beocenter 3500 is a refined evolution of the Beomaster 3000, combining a high-quality FM tuner, an automatic record player, and a powerful stereo amplifier. To improve ease of use, the tuner offers six pre-set stations for quick access, along with a large manual tuning scale, illuminated indicator, and signal-strength meter for precise tuning. Furthermore, its amplifier delivers 2 x 40 watts RMS of high-fidelity sound and features adjustable filters to fine-tune performance.
Additionally, the system provides a wide range of connection options, including ports for two pairs of loudspeakers, headphones, and a tape recorder with monitoring capabilities. The fully automatic record player simplifies operation, as a master switch controls all functions. You can simply select the record size, press a button, and the system takes care of the rest. Moreover, the Beocenter 3500 includes a sturdy, hinged dust cover, which protects your records during play, making it a reliable choice for enjoying high-quality sound from both vinyl and radio.
Key Features:
The amplifier is designed to deliver pristine sound with advanced frequency correction and versatile connectivity options. It includes switchable filters for enhanced control, while the LOUDNESS feature allows you to switch between objective and subjective linear sound reproduction. Additionally, the LOW and I-II filters further refine frequency control, with the LOW filter minimizing rumble from poor-quality records and the EH filter reducing hiss. The unit includes connections for two pairs of loudspeakers, a front headphone jack, and AB monitoring for the tape recorder. You can also adjust input levels for all sources, ensuring consistent sound across various media.
FM Tuner
In terms of tuning, the FM section offers six pre-set station selectors, an illuminated tuning light, and a signal-strength meter for accuracy. Notably, its high sensitivity—rated better than 1.4 uV I.E.C.—along with harmonic distortion as low as 0.4%, ensures clear and reliable reception. Additionally, advanced components such as field-effect transistors, ceramic filters, and integrated circuits contribute to its superior performance.
The automatic record player, equipped with an SP 10A (later SP 12A) pickup cartridge and a spherical naked diamond stylus, offers excellent audio fidelity. With a frequency range of 20-25,000 Hz ± 3 dB and less than 1% distortion, the player delivers impressive sound quality. Wow and flutter remain below 0.09%, and rumble exceeds -60 dB, ensuring smooth playback. Furthermore, the player is simple to operate: you just select the record size (7”, 10”, or 12”) and press a button. The system automatically adjusts the speed (33 or 45 rpm) and lowers the pickup arm. At the end of the record, the arm returns, and the turntable powers off. In addition, the pendulum suspension minimizes vibration, while deep grooves in the turntable make record handling easier.
Additional Inputs
In addition to its many features, the Beocenter 3500 offers an extra Phono input, allowing the connection of two Beograms to the music center. However, Phono 2 requires an RIAA pre-amplifier to function with a line-level input. Over time, this feature evolved into the “Tape 2” input on later models.
