Bang & Olufsen Beolab 8002

The Bang & Olufsen Beolab 8002, an upgrade to the venerable Beolab 8000, included new drive units driven by two 125W ICE amplifiers. As stated by B&O, the sound quality remained unaltered, therefore this can be interpreted as a range rationalization rather than a drastic redesign of a beloved classic.

Although the mode LED was moved, everything else appeared to be running smoothly. The previously installed phono socket was replaced with a three-way switch for room positioning. There was just one Powerlink socket available, like before.

The 8000s are active speakers, which means that every component has its own amplifier, just like all contemporary B&O speakers. Each speaker actually contains two amplifier units. Separating the amplifiers offers the loudspeakers the greatest benefit of achieving the highest sound pressure from each component without distortion. The Beolab 8000s blend in perfectly with their surroundings because they have the same reflective coating as the BeoLab Penta. The BeoLab 8000 rose to prominence as the most well-liked active speaker by 2001.
